School violence is a complex issue best addressed with a layered, holistic approach.Recent research has shown that almost all school shooters demonstrated mental health concerns prior to the attack. This suggests that upstream interventions, such as early identification and support for mental health concerns, can play a critical role in preventing school violence.

This presentation will explore the research related to school shootings and the role of mental health. It will also discuss the importance of utilizing technology to support safety systems. The presentation will conclude with a call to action for developing and implementing prevention efforts that focus on mental health and technology.
